Christmas 2008

Christmas was good this year. It was hard since it was only a month after Matt's dad died. But in spite of that it was a good Christmas. Melissa has a very hard time when there are presents in the house that she can't open. She was doing alright when she knew what they all were, but as soon as there were a few surprise presents it drove her crazy. Luckily Matt waited until a week before Christmas to get her the surprises. With the presents from family and friends the tree did look pretty full underneath. One of the presents was a beautiful advent calendar from Lauren. She made it and it will be displayed with pride next year. She also remembered the kitties. She sent three little toys for them, that had catnip in them. On Christmas Eve the cats were locked up because they were interested in the toys and would have taken them out of the stockings that they were in. We also got two sets of our wedding china and a picture of the D.C. Temple from Matt's mom. We cleaned out the china hutch that we have in our house from Melissa's grandma, and put our china in it, and hung our Temple picture on the wall. It was a good Christmas.

Christmas Santa

Melissa's Grandma had this up year round in her home. Just before she passed away she gave it to Melissa because she knew how much she loved it. This is the first Christmas since she passed and it's little things like this that help us remember the people we love.

Babysitting

Matt and I watched my nephews one night for my sister Sharon. Our night consisted of guitar hero for two hours. Jake's getting pretty good, Justin will be good he picks up fast, and little Kyle, well he thinks he's playing. We turned off the game and thought popped popcorn and a movie would be fun. We turned on the popcorn machine and I said well stand together so when the popcorn starts I can get a picture. If you look close you will see the lid starting to fly off. After the picture was taken popcorn flew everywhere. Jake ran away, Justin jumped off the counter, I stepped away, Matt stood there for a few seconds as Kyle was left on the counter with the popcorn flying all around him. He was terrified as all of us were screaming(except Matt of course) and not helping him down, luckily Matt came to the rescue, he grabbed Kyle and unplugged the popcorn machine. We had a pretty good laugh after wards.

I have a great wife.

Melissa is sleeping on the chair next to me and so I thought I'd put something on here. I wanted to thank Melissa for the wonderful day yesterday. She wanted everthing to be nice for me. She even went to see a Bond movie with me. My wife loves me and I love her too.

Well to my much surprise, we now have another basket stealer. I came home from work today to find Reno in our handtowel basket sound asleep. I guess we will have to find a new home for our handtowels.

Crafts.....

I must say I have been pretty proud of my crafts that I have made lately. The family home evening board was done a couple of months ago for enrichment. It didn't take long so it was pretty easy, however the give thanks and the family wall hanging is a different story. I made these during super Saturday, and it took a total of five hours. You see, I made two of everything, when my sister heard of the cute things we were making, she said sign me up and I'll come too. Well she ended up not being able to come, and since I had already pre-ordered I said well I'll make yours for you too. It wasn't but three minutes into the first project when I thought(and actually didn't stop thinking till I was done) "what have I gotten myself into?" It was so time consuming and the details were extreme, and I now dislike mod podge, for those of who don't know what that is, it's pretty much like glue and if you don't do it right then your project is done for, or you spend the next 45 minutes or so trying to get the bubbles smoothed out. After all the work(and I must admit the not so kind words I said in my mind) was done it turned out very nice, so I was happy.

Wedding Pictures

December 30 was a wonderful day. Matt and I were sealed together for all time and eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple. My mom, sister Sharon, Aunt Diana, and my Cousin RaeAnn were able to fly out from Utah to attend the Wedding. All of Matt's brothers and sister and their families were all able to attend as well. The day couldn't have been better, the sun was shinning and I was surrounded by many loved ones. The special part of the day was being sealed to my wonderful husband. I will always remember this special day.
